Overview

First Impressions

Beautiful London 2 Bedroom Flat near Finsbury Park sits on Portland Rise, and honestly, the name pretty much tells you what you’re getting. It’s a straightforward apartment setup in Buckingham House — nothing fancy, but you know what? Sometimes that’s exactly what you need when you’re exploring London without breaking the bank. The building itself has that solid North London residential feel, and you’re literally a few minutes’ walk from Finsbury Park station.

Location & Neighborhood

This two-star spot puts you right in the heart of London‘s N4 area, which I actually think is one of the city’s better-kept secrets. Finsbury Park is this amazing green space where locals go for weekend runs, and the tube station connects you directly to King’s Cross in about 10 minutes — I mean, you can’t really ask for better transport links. The neighborhood around Portland Rise has this authentic London vibe with proper corner shops, decent pubs, and none of that touristy nonsense you get in Zone 1.

The Space

The flat gives you two proper bedrooms, which is brilliant if you’re traveling with family or splitting costs with friends. There’s a kitchen that’s actually functional — not just a tiny kitchenette — so you can cook real meals instead of surviving on takeaways. The room layouts are practical rather than Instagram-perfect, but honestly, when you’re paying Zone 2 prices and getting this much space, you can’t really complain.

What Works Well

The real win here is the independence you get with a proper flat rental. You’ve got your own front door, your own schedule, and nobody’s asking when you’ll be back or judging your 2 AM fish and chips run. The proximity to Finsbury Park means you can actually experience London like a local — grab coffee from the café near the station, pick up groceries from the Sainsbury’s, maybe catch a concert at the Rainbow Theatre if something good is playing.

Why Guests Choose It

Look, this isn’t going to win any design awards, but it delivers exactly what it promises. You get genuine London living at a price that won’t make you wince every time you check your bank account. The transport connections mean you’re never more than 20 minutes from central London attractions, but you’re staying somewhere that feels real rather than sterile. Plus, having two bedrooms and a proper kitchen setup means you can actually spread out and live a bit, which makes longer stays way more comfortable than cramming into a tiny hotel room.

"Suitable for group with middle-low standards"
Very close to "Minor house" underground's station. The line is straight way to Heathrow airport. There are most of needed things in apartment.
What could be improved: The apartment does not look well cleaned. Wet towels. Furniture and equipment are cheap and old. Strange the building system. Not the best area in London

"Photos can be deceiving"
Water pressure on the shower was impressive and certainly felt like I'd lost a few layers of skin afterwards.
What could be improved: As a whole this was just a base, there was never plans to spend all day every day here so on that front it met requirements however there were things that really let this property down. Many of the air vents had some form of toilet paper or kitchen roll stuffed in them, for what purpose I don't know but it looked unsightly. A few windows had the handles broken which on really hot nights would've been an issue as we wouldn't have been able to open them and get some air in the place. Where the shower pressure was great the holder was only held in by one screw so the shower head constantly moved and due to the pressure and lack of adjustment the floor at the end of the shower got saturated as the water didn't stay in the bath. There were adequate kitchen facilities including sponges and washing up liquid but no plug to actually keep the water in the sink to do a washing load. I wouldn't class the apartment as beautiful, it was passable at best but for the area where we were it wasn't dingy. Where there was a certain horticultural smell in the air of the area and some what could be deemed as undesirables on the street corners not once did myself or my family feel unsafe in the area walking from the tube station to the flat. It does seem like a council block of flats vibe but at the time they were built that would have been the type of urban living you should expect from the area but again at no point did we feel unsafe or threatened. The worst part of our experience though was walking into the flat and the strong smell of gas due to a hob being left on. We had to leave the apartment after ventilating to allow the smell to disperse. There didn't seem to be a carbon monoxide alarm present which would have made someone aware of this fact. There was no knowing how long this had been left on so instantly would have put myself and family at risk had we not been more vigilant.

"Poor communication"
The location
What could be improved: The dreadful communication and water going off twice. We weren't given the information about getting into the property until the morning after we arrived. I left several messages because we were stuck outside and no one answered my calls. It was the help of a resident that meant we got in eventually.

"A seedy, sticky apartment just off the subway"
The only good thing about this accommodation is the location next to the Picdadilly line tube station. The key to the apartment can be picked up in the safe attached to the outside wall of the building - beware, there are two safes next to each other... The apartment has a washing machine, clothes dryer, ironing facilities and hairdryer.
What could be improved: The housing is in pretty shabby condition. Considering the owner charges £80 for cleaning, it's a mockery. Everything was sticky, we had to clean almost everything (handles, surfaces, cutlery). The bath was filthy completely, the drain clogged with previous tenants hair - disgusting. The front door handle is broken, you have to lock to keep the door shut. Inner door handles are mostly broken off, we didn't close the door - there was a risk of getting stuck in the room and not getting out... Floor Lamp without bulb = useless. The internet connection didn't work throughout our stay, the announced streaming services on the TV obviously didn't work either. The host did not communicate at all during our stay. We only got 3 towels for 4 people...

"Extremely poor. Nearly ruined Christmas"
very poor, no breakfast
What could be improved: Cold, very sparsely furnished, in a Council block of flats. The description of Beautiful is stupid. We could not stay in such a place and had to go to aT Travelodge at a cost of over £300

"Beautiful is a long stretch."
Not much.
What could be improved: The place is dirty and potential death trap. No handles on doors, the cold water shower tap didn’t work properly and you scolded yourself. The floors were dirty and food crumbs under the couch. The only good thing about as the location. Would not book.
