Overview
First Impressions
Albert Apt sits on a typical Victorian terrace along Caledonian Road, and honestly, you might walk past it if you weren’t looking carefully. It’s not trying to be flashy — just a solid four-star property that’s been thoughtfully converted into serviced apartments. The entrance is understated but welcoming, with that classic London brick facade that immediately tells you this building has some history.
The Islington Advantage
What I really appreciate about this location is how genuinely local it feels. You’re in Islington proper, not some touristy bubble, which means you’ll find yourself shopping where Londoners actually shop and eating where they eat. The Caledonian Road has this interesting mix — it’s not the polished part of Islington you see in magazines, but that’s exactly why it works. You’ve got proper butchers, independent cafes, and the kind of pubs where regulars still argue about football over pints.
The Apartment Setup
Each apartment here is essentially a self-contained unit, which makes a huge difference if you’re staying more than a couple nights. The kitchen isn’t just for show — it’s actually functional with a proper-sized fridge and decent cooking facilities. My room had this mix of contemporary furnishings against original Victorian features, like high ceilings and those chunky window frames that remind you you’re in a building with character.
Getting Around
Caledonian Road & Barnsbury station is literally a few minutes’ walk away, which puts you on the Piccadilly line — and you know what that means. Direct shots to King’s Cross, Russell Square, and down to South Kensington without any mucking about with transfers. I actually found myself using it more than the tube sometimes because it’s just so straightforward. There’s decent parking on the surrounding streets if you’re driving, though you’ll want to check the residents’ parking signs carefully.
Why Guests Love It
The thing about Albert Apt is that it doesn’t oversell itself, which is refreshing in London’s hotel scene. It’s clean, well-maintained, and genuinely comfortable without any pretense. The staff seem to actually live in the area — they’ll point you toward the good bakery rather than just handing you a generic tourist map. For the price point, especially compared to central London hotels where you’re paying premium rates for a shoebox, this feels like getting proper value. You’re still well-connected to everything, but you’re experiencing London as Londoners do, not as a theme park.

"Great flat in good safe location."
Very comfortable accomodation that had everything we needed.
The heating and hot water was perfect for us.
The kitchen facilities also suited us very well.
The bathroom was also good and it looked like a new suite.
Location was ideal as only 5 mins from Kings Cross and lots of restaurants nearby.
Was also a nice seated area and decent television wit netflix etc
The accomodation was perfect for us and suited us well
What could be improved: As it is a flat there was a bit of noise from upstairs. Not loud but you could hear folk walking about during the night and early morning. NOT a great problem.
You could hear the traffic from the road and people walking by sounded very close.
But these were minor negatives and its what you get in a city.

"Excellent location for accessing London transportation"
Quiet location but very central to access other areas and transport
What could be improved: Step down from bedroom to bathroom - warning sign needed

"I had a great short stay in Albert Apartment. Superb location!"
I had a wonderful stay at the Albert Apartment! The location is perfect—close to everything I needed, yet peaceful. The apartment itself is spacious, spotlessly clean, and beautifully maintained. I especially appreciated the large bathroom, which was a real bonus, and a good-sized TV. The host was also very responsive! Highly recommended for anyone looking for comfort and convenience!
What could be improved: Nothing to say here

The location of this apartment is perfect, just a few minutes’ walk from King's Cross Station, the canal, and Granary Square. It’s very convenient for getting around and visiting different parts of London. The apartment has a spacious living area with a large sofa, a big smart TV, and a large bathroom. Great value and a truly lovely stay!

"Loved it!"
Very clean and comfortable apartment. Was so much better than expected. Staff responded quickly to any questions and offered late check out. The apartment was very well equipped. The bed was comfortable the apartment is as warm or cool as I wanted it to be. The bathroom is clean and enough hot water as long as you change the settings on the boiler. I stayed Monday to Friday and wasn't short of anything I needed. The partition between the lounge area and the bed area does almost feel like the bedroom is completely separate. Whether you are looking for a short weekend stay or a longer stay, this place is ideal and 5 minutes walk from King's Cross Station. There is also a Tesco supermarket 2 minutes walk away. I wouldn't hesitate to book this on my next London visit.
What could be improved: The apartment is specifically advertised (and pictured) that it has a PS5. However, there wasn't one. The staff replied to me very quickly to advise a previous guest had taken it but they would try to get a replacement for my stay. They didn't come back to me on that. Not too important on a short stay but on a longer stay, this would have been handy for any down time. There is a lot of noise from 6am from whoever lives upstairs. I think they may have been wearing moon boots to walk around. And the shop upstairs can create noise during the day...but who sits in their apartment during the day in London! Due to the stairs down to the apartment, it would not suit anyone with a physical impairment. None of these things would put me.off though.

"Great value for the location! Easy to reach from Kings Cross and surrounded by lots of amenities."
Great value for the location! Easy to reach from Kings Cross and surrounded by lots of amenities. The apartment was impeccably clean. The kitchen was well-equipped, the shower and bathroom were great, and the bed was very comfortable - I slept well. Communication was clear, with easy instructions for using the thermostat, coffee maker, and other amenities. PS5 was an additional bonus. A fantastic stay overall!
What could be improved: There is a large window in the property which is great. However, the property would benefit from a bit more natural light.

"The nice coffee machine and a PS5 are a bonus. Highly recommended!"
This apartment is located near King's Cross Station, making it incredibly convenient for travel. It's spacious and can be comfortable for more than two guests for sure. The large bed was very comfortable and I had all the essentials for a good stay. The nice coffee machine and a PS5 are a bonus. Highly recommended!
What could be improved: The staircase is a bit narrow.

"Would book again!"
It was really great overall, we felt very much looked after
What could be improved: It was noisy above our head, very early in the morning and that woke us up

"Clean and well stocked. Nice touches such as PS4, treat on arrival, comfortable furnishing and lighting. Simple and tho"
Proximity to Eurostar and Kings Cross, Metro and buses. Surrounded by supermarkets and restaurants and pubs and a bookstore.
What could be improved: Stairs to apartment are steep. We managed with small cases, medium or large cases would prove very difficult. Needed instruction for hot drink maker.

"Great location for Kings Cross"
Location. Very close to Kings Cross station. Good clear communication from the hosts which is always very helpful. Warm and cozy clean and tidy basement studio flat. Ideal if you need a base to explore London from. More versatile than a hotel room.
What could be improved: Nothing major wrong with the accommodation. If you do have mobility issues access would be awkward as it is down a narrow iron staircase.
