Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to 331 on Old Street, you’d honestly be forgiven for missing it at first glance. This three-star spot sits quietly among the industrial-chic buildings that define this corner of London, but that understated approach is actually part of its charm. The entrance feels more like stepping into a friend’s converted warehouse than a traditional hotel — which, knowing Hackney, is probably exactly what they were going for.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s the thing about staying near Old Street — you’re genuinely in one of London’s most interesting neighborhoods without the tourist crowds. The Old Street roundabout is maybe a five-minute walk, which means you’ve got direct tube access to pretty much anywhere you need to go. But honestly, I’d recommend exploring on foot first because this area has some of the best street art and independent coffee shops in the city. You know what’s great? You can walk to Shoreditch in about ten minutes, or head toward Angel if you want something a bit more polished.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in felt distinctly modern but not trying too hard — clean lines, decent lighting, and a bed that actually let me sleep through London’s usual morning chaos. What struck me was how they’ve managed to make relatively compact spaces feel thoughtful rather than cramped. The bathroom’s small but functional, and there’s enough storage space for a week’s worth of stuff without everything feeling cluttered.
Neighborhood Dining
You won’t find a full-service restaurant inside 331, but that’s missing the point entirely. Step outside and you’re surrounded by some seriously good eating options — from Vietnamese bánh mì spots to those trendy brunch places that somehow make avocado toast worth £12. There’s a Tesco Express literally around the corner if you need basics, and the pub scene here is a mix of old-school locals and newer places that don’t take themselves too seriously.
Why Guests Love It
Look, 331 isn’t trying to be something it’s not, and that’s refreshing. It’s a solid, no-nonsense place to stay in a genuinely cool part of London without paying Shoreditch prices. The staff seem to actually know the area — they’ll point you toward the good coffee or tell you which direction to avoid during rush hour. For travelers who want to experience London beyond the obvious tourist spots, this location puts you right in the middle of where actual Londoners live and work. I mean, you’re staying in Hackney — you’re already winning.

"Superb"
Lots of light and windows to people watch. Good value for money. Located well for old street bars restaurants. All necessary amenities. Unusual to have outside space. Clean.
What could be improved: Heavily used and things are wearing. Could do with investment. Missing a feminine touch.

"Perfect for what we wanted but not car friendly"
The roominess and how open it was was very unexpected but lovely, lots of room to move about and enjoy. The terrace was also a welcomed surprise! The street view was great, coming from a very quiet city it was great to watch the world go by. Very close to the venue we came for.
What could be improved: It was very warm. Windows don’t open more than a crack so not much airflow. The fan was a good send. Also, ZERO parking. I ended up having to park 15 minutes away and getting an Uber to the property which wasn’t ideal. Especially with 1 of our group being disabled. Quite steep stairs to the room too.

What could be improved: The apartment is on the second floor of a club/bar and the music was very loud, you can hear it in your bed.

"Great apartment in a great location"
The location was really great, close to many good places to eat and drink and easy access via public transport.
The appartement was quite spacious and well-equipped compared to other short-stay apartments. Communication with the host was good, and the self-check in with a key box worked very well, you just need to have access to your inbox on the day of arrival to get the code.
What could be improved: As other people have mentioned, there is some noise from the bars and street below, so I wouldn’t recommend it if you are a light sleeper, but it worked fine for us and there are earplugs available if needed. There was only double duvets, and since we were a group of friends, it would have been nice with separate duvets.
It would have been practical with some coat racks in the hallway, and the shower rack was a little loose, but other than that everything was very nice and looked like the photos.
